2 features and design this multimedia projector is designed with the most advanced technology for portability, durability, and ease of use. it uses b uilt-in multimedia features, a palette of 1.07 billion colors, and matrix liquid crystal display (lcd) technology. short throw & wide-range zoom lens the 2x short throw & wide-range zoom lens is capable of throwing a 100?diagonal image from a distance of 9.8 (3.0 m) to 20.0?(6.1 m). lens shift the lens shift function provides a greater installation flexibility. you can use the projector at desired places without images being distorted (see page 15) . color management the color management function allows you to adjust the details of picture colors to suit your preference and viewing environments (see pages 31 ?32) . t win iris the integration of the lens aperture and lamp aperture enhances the contrast and depth of the projected image. compatibility the projector accepts signals from multiple sources: computers, analog tv systems (pal, secam, ntsc, ntsc4.43, pal-m, and pal-n), component video, s-video, rgb scart, and hdmi. simple computer system setting the multi-scan system of the projector conforms to almost all computer output signals quickly (see page 26) . 16 : 9 wide screen the wide lcd panels with 1280 x 720 resolution (16:9 aspect ratio) can project the image from component video signals such as dvd players and hdtv devices in full screen. interlace-progressive conversion high-quality picture technology is available that converts an interlaced signal into a progressively-scanned one (see page 29) . au t omatic slide shutter the automatic slide shutter protects the lens from dust and scratches. it opens and closes automatically as you press the power on/stand-by button. wide selection of image modes you can select an ideal image mode for the viewing environment or for your desired picture quality (see page 27) . the four different kinds of images of your choice can also be stored (see pages 28 ?32) . p ow er management the power management function reduces power consumption and maintains the lamp life (see page 39) . logo the logo function allows you to customize the screen logo (see page 38) . you can capture an image for the screen logo and use it for the starting-up display or between presentations. lamp control the brightness of the projection lamp can be selected (see pages 22, 29) . multi-language menu display operation menu is available in 16 languages: english, german, french, italian, spanish, portuguese, dutch, swedish, finnish, polish, hungarian, romanian, russian, chinese, korean, and japanese ( see page 36) . selectable setting position the mounting function provides a proper image position (up/down and left/right) depending on the setting position of the projector such as ceiling mounting or wall-hanging (see page 37) . tw o hdmi terminals the projector has two hdmi (high definition multimedia interface) terminals. simple connection with digital equipment is offered through these terminals. ? notes: the on-screen menu and figures in this manual may differ slightly from the actual product. the contents of this manual are subject to change without notice. www.datasheet.net/ datasheet pdf - http://www..co.kr/

14 installation hdmi 1 computer co co s-video hdmi 2 video pb/cb ypr/ cr this projector uses nominal input voltages of 100 ?120 v or 200 240 v ac and it automatically selects a correct input voltage. it is designed to work with the single-phase power systems having a grounded neutral conductor. to reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not plug into any other type of power system. if you are not sure of the type of power being supplied, consult your authorized dealer or service station. connect the projector with all peripheral equipment before turning it on. caution for safety, unplug the ac power cord when the projector is not in use. when the projector is connected to an outlet with the ac power cord and the main on/off switch is on, it is in stand-by mode and consumes a little electric power. turn the main on/off switch off when the projector is not in use. connecting the ac power cord connect the ac power cord (supplied) to the projector. the ac outlet must be near this equipment and must be easily accessible. note on the power cord ac power cord must meet the requirements of the country where you use the projector. confirm the ac plug type with the chart below and a proper ac power cord must be used. if the supplied ac power cord does not match your ac outlet, contact your sales dealer. to power cord connector on your projector. projector side ac outlet side ground to the ac outlet. 43 maintenance and cleaning cleaning the rgb panels blemishes such as dust and dirt on the internal optical components of the projector tend to degrade the brightness of the screen and are likely to appear as a shadow on the screen, which can lead to deterioration of image quality. this projector has the rgb panel cleaning holes on the underside for cleaning of the internal parts (such as optical components) of the projector. when you use the projector for a lengthy period of time or a shadow of dust appears on the projected screen, clean the inside of the projector. using the supplied air blower and with the cleaning function in the setting menu (p.40), you can remove the dusts from the projector. caution in using the air blower and the nozzle turn the projector over when using the blower. use only the supplied air blower and nozzle to keep the projector from being out of oder or damaged. we could not guarantee the malfunction or breakage caused by other tools. never use a commercially available compressed air duster. it causes the interior of the projector to malfunction with release of cold liquid propellant. put the projector on a soft cloth to prevent scratching the surface. open the hole cover only when you clean the inside of the projector. do not look into the holes. a strong light could damage your eyes. 47 maintenance and cleaning when the projection lamp of this projector reaches its end of life, the lamp replace indicator emits yellow light. if this indicator lights yellow, replace the lamp with a new one promptly. the time when the lamp replace indicator should light is depending on the lamp mode. follow these steps to replace the lamp. lamp lamp cover order repla cement lamp replacement lamp can be ordered through your dealer. when ordering a projection lamp, give the following information to the dealer. model no. of your projector: PLV-Z5/PLV-Z5bk replacement lamp type no.: poa-lmp94 (service parts no. 610 323 5998) for continued safety, replace the lamp with the same type lamp. do not drop the lamp or touch the glass bulb! the glass can shatter and may cause injury. allow the projector to cool, for at least 45 minutes before you open the lamp cover. the inside of the projector can become very hot. top control caution screw turn off the projector and unplug the ac power cord. let the projector cool for at least 45 minutes. loosen the two (2) screws that secure the lamp. lift the lamp out of the projector by using the built in handle. 1 3 replace the lamp with a new one and secure it with the two (2) screws. make sure that the lamp is set properly. put the lamp cover back and secure it with the screw. 4 turn the projector over. loosen the screw that secures the lamp cover, and then open the lamp cover. 2 connect the ac power cord to the projector and turn on the projector. 6 reset the lamp replacement counter. see ?amp replacement counter?on the next page. 5 lamp replacement handle screws caution this indicator lights yellow when the projection lamp reaches its end of life. www.datasheet.net/ datasheet pdf - http://www..co.kr/
48 maintenance and cleaning be sure to reset the lamp replacement counter after the lamp is replaced. when the lamp replacement counter is reset, the lamp replace indicator stops lighting. turn the projector on and press the menu button to display the on-screen menu. select the setting menu with the point ed buttons. press the point 8 button to access the submenu items. select lamp counter reset and then press the the ok or point 8 buttons. ?amp replacement counter reset? appears. select [yes] and then press the ok button. 1 2 another confirmation dialog box appears, and select [yes] to reset the lamp replacement counter. 3 this projector uses a high-pressure lamp which must be handled carefully and properly. improper handling may result in accidents, injury, or create a fire hazard. lamp lifetime may differ from lamp to lamp and according to the environment of use. there is no guarantee of the same lifetime for each lamp. some lamps may fail or terminate their lifetime in a shorter period of time than other similar lamps. if the projector indicates that the lamp should be replaced, i.e., if the lamp replace indicator lights up, replace the lamp with a new one immediately after the projector has cooled down. 49 tr oubleshooting before calling your dealer or service center for assistance, check the items below once again. make sure you have properly connected the projector to peripheral equipment as described in ?onnecting to video equipment?and ?onnecting to a computer?on pages 16 ?17. make sure all equipment is connected to an ac outlet and the power is turned on. when you operate the projector with a computer and it does not project an image, restart the computer. w arning: high voltages are used to operate this projector. do not attempt to open the cabinet. if problems still persist after following all operating instructions, contact the dealer where you purchased the projector or service center. give the model number and explain about the problem. we will advise you how to obtain service. appendix solutions problem: no power. plug the power cord of the projector into an ac outlet. see if the automatic slide shutter is only half-open. when it is half-open, the power indicator blinks orange and the projector cannot be turned on (see page 18). see if the main on/off switch is on. ? ait 60 seconds after the projector is turned off to restart the projector. the projector can be turned on after the power indicator turns red (see page 19). check the warning indicator. if the warning indicator lights red, the projector cannot be turned on (see page 42). check the projection lamp (see page 47). check if the projector is installed on a flat surface. image is out of focus. adjust the focus of the projector (see page 22). provide proper distance between the projector and the projection screen (see page 13). check the projection lens to see if it needs cleaning (see page 46). moving the projector from a cool to warm place may result in moisture condensation on the projection lens. if this occurs, leave the projector off and wait until condensation evaporates. no image. check the connection between your computer or video equipment and the projector (see pages 16 ?17). see if the input signal is correctly output from your computer. for some laptop computers, the setting for the monitor output needs to to be changed when connecting to a projector. see your computer? instruction manual for the setting. it takes about 20 seconds to display an image after turning on the projector. see if the selected system is corresponding to your computer or video equipment (see pages 24 ?26). select a correct input source once again through menu operation (see pages 25 ?26). make sure the temperature is not out of the specified operating temperature (41? 95?
